✪ Episode 1: First Contact ✪

While on a routine mission to test a number of prototype fighters destined to replace the Earth Colonial Fleets aging Starhawk, the ECS Red Nova, your carrier, comes across an unknown alien fleet preparing to stage a sneak attack on the human colonies!

In order to give the Red Nova a chance to escape and warn the rest of the fleet you have volunteered to attack the aliens head-on. With a choice of any of the fighters on deck, you have to use your wits, your guns, and your ample supply of homing missiles to survive for as long as you can!

✪ Episode 2: Mercy ✪

The alien invasion of the human colonies has begun!

Reports are coming in that a massive alien mothership has begun an assault on the shipyards at Gamma Crucis, a mere 88 light years from Earth. It has disabled the fleet there and without your help the crew of those ships will meet an untimely end!

While the Red Nova occupies the mothership you must use your skill to pilot the Raven heavy transport against the fighter onslaught launched by the mothership. After repelling each wave of enemy ships you will have to pick up and transport the crew from their ships to the Red Nova.

Pros and cons of Red Nova app for iPhone and iPad

Red Nova app good for

It took me a few tries to warm up to the game as I dont ordinarily play shooters, but once I got a grasp of the controls I found them to be intuitive and perfect! The game is supposed to come out with new additions sometime in the future and Im looking forward to what a lone developer can do to improve an already great game.

As another reviewer notes, theres definitely a learning curve so dont be discouraged in the onset of gameplay. 99 cents for universal play and the ability to use an iPhone as a controller gives the game a lot of value. Some recommendations are missions, starbases, the ability for permanent power ups, introduction of characters and better instructions on play with larger font. Great work.

If you havent at least tried Red Nova, all I can say is why the heck not? Get it now - go, go, go!

The newest update makes thus game even better (if possible). It provides new and exciting ways to play, also really helps the story line. I REALLY want to see more from Colin

This is a great game and has a ton of great features to really get the most out of your devices. The controls take a bit to get used to but they really add to the game once you get going. The new update really add some great additional gameplay elements. Highly recommended.

I love this game, especially the awesome new update. Really fun and addictive!

Some bad moments

Sorry. I really wanted to give it a try. But the overall look&feel may be acceptable for pre iPhone era but not for current generation of games. The game itself is a simple shooter with thumb controls. Even if it is only 99ct, just dont buy

Reminding me a lot of Asteroids, Red Nova adds a lot to the concept to create depth and challenge. I still consider myself a beginner at the game, but Im already starting to really enjoy the unique, yet completely logical, control system. Really loving sliding around, and sideswiping my enemies. Great stuff!

If you think this is just another dual stick shooter, think again! This game has a different control scheme! =) You control your ship (you get three to choose from) with a left control pad like usual. But when you shoot (via tapping the right side of the screen), you can only shoot in the direction you are facing. So, you have to do more manuevering strategies to hit your enemies. For example, fly around in circles or spin around while shooting. ^^d But not only that, you also collect little charge particles when you defeat your enemies to charge up your ship, which enables you to replenish your sheilds, shoot missiles, or use power-up items you pick up. Not to mention, the graphics are cool! =) So, are you ready to become the next Red Nova grandmaster? If so, come and join in on the fun and top the leaderboards! ^^d

I think this is a great game to just pick up and play whenever. The controls arent the typically irritating dual-stick ones at all, and the game certainly benefits. Its a pretty easy game to grasp, but the enemies are not trivial!

Very limited game with no depth. 7 enemy ships? 3 choices of fighters? I picked this game because of a news review saying it was a hidden gem, but I am far from impressed. Maybe if it had some content.

Thank you for the revised easy setting, this game is much much much more playable and enjoyable now. The new ship is cool too. Anyone looking for an endless dual stick space shooter (like Asteroids but vs alien ships instead), check this game out!
